Job Summary

The NeuroAI Lab at UCSF, led by Assistant Professor Pedro Pinheiro-Chagas, invites applications for a Clinical Research Coordinator / Lab Manager (CRC) at 25% effort to support innovative, cross-disciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, clinical neuroscience, and digital health. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team developing and evaluating AI-enabled systems—orchestrating studies spanning AI-powered clinical decision tools and multimodal data analysis—with the goal of advancing research and care in neurodegenerative diseases and cognition.

The CRC will be responsible for coordinating research studies across the lab’s project portfolio. Key responsibilities include managing participant recruitment, designing data collection forms, collecting and entering data into research databases, maintaining data quality, supporting data cleaning and preliminary analysis, and generating reports. Additional duties include preparing and maintaining IRB submissions and amendments, ensuring regulatory compliance, attending team meetings, supporting project management across concurrent studies, and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields, and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic data analysis skills; proficiency in Python is a plus.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and capacity to manage multiple, concurrent project deadlines.
• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct when working with patient and research data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and interpersonal abilities to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or experience in neuroscience, psychology, biological sciences, or a related field.
• Experience working with patient or research participants in a healthcare, laboratory, or research setting.
• Familiarity with medical or neuroscience terminology, cognitive/behavioral assessments, and/or clinical data abstraction.
• Interest in or willingness to learn about digital health, innovative data collection, and AI-enabled clinical research tools.
• Familiarity with regulatory processes for clinical research (e.g., HIPAA, IRB/CHR).
• Ability to adapt and learn new workflows and technologies supporting complex clinical research protocols.
• Project management experience in a research or clinical setting.

Research Environment / Training Context

The NeuroAI Lab is directed by Pedro Pinheiro-Chagas, PhD, and operates at the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center (MAC) in the Department of Neurology of the Weill Institute for Neurosciences. The lab is also affiliated with the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute and the Center for Intelligent Imaging (ci2). The CRC will work alongside clinicians, data scientists, and AI researchers, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge clinical AI tools and translational research workflows.
